Mississippi Relay Equipment Distribution Program (MREDP)
Unfortunately, many Mississippi Citizens are not able to hear or understand telephone communications at a satisfactory level, and as a result may be prevented from having equal access to telephone communications. As part of the service provided by the Mississippi Relay program, a limited number of specialized equipment devices will be available each month to Deaf, hard-of-hearing or speech disabled individuals who require such devices to utilize the Mississippi Relay.
What Type of Equipment is Available?
Among the equipment available is:
- a text phone (TTY),
- a Voice Carry Over phone,
- a Hearing Carry Over phone,
- a phone designed to assist speech disabled individuals,
- a CapTel phone and
- a flasher to indicate the person’s phone is ringing with an incoming call.
The program can also provide the Blackberry to qualified citizens.
Each applicant must complete the Mississippi Relay Equipment Distribution Program (MREDP) and fully answer all questions in order to be considered for the Equipment Program.
